CHANGE: A GEOGRAPHY OF NOW
Change is a mixed medium pop art piece exhibited in SOHO NYC in 2008. A group of young NYC artists created a visual art show to express disdain with the increasing cost of living in Manhattan. This piece was created from hundreds of dollars in pennies, nickels, and dimes glued to luan plywood. Oil based paint was used to create the night sky. Change was exhibited with another pile of pennies at the base of the installation. This is an artistic rendition of the six-foot installation.
Change shows the way time and money are linked as both are so precious. Money goes just as quickly as time. How we hold on to our time and our money is what the artist questions. While being funny and at the same time serious, the artist chose to glue his last $200 to the wall.
