Folk Arts Rajasthan

I found this project through the NYC Mayor’s office. They are a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organisation based in my former neighbourhood of over ten years – the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Just a few blocks down the CEO runs an office from her home with operations in Rajasthan, India. I personally enjoy cultural music as well as travelling the world. This company provides education to children in slums of India. Part of their services find clean drinking water, food and medical attention to those in this marginalised community known as the Merasi, in existence for over 1,800 years.

They are showcasing the music they have passed down in tradition for those many years. They are often called beggars in the Indian caste system, though they are brilliant artists with ancient history to share. Their website was damaged when I took the project on. I had to remove a virus as well as malware from their server. This is their new home – I hope you enjoy the music.
